Panel I – “Urban-rural cooperation: One size does not fit all”

 

Urban-rural partnerships take place on different geographical scales and thus have to address specific local/regional needs and potentials. The panellists illustrate different types and means of cooperation with their experience.

As urban-rural partnerships can be made up of numerous actors involving various hierarchical levels and different sectors, appropriate governance models have to be developed. The panellists discuss three recommendations based on their activities.

Urban-rural partnerships are born from different opportunities, from which valuable experiences can be drawn. Therefore, creative funding opportunities should be used and in addition, funding sources should be provided to allow for the different ways of introducing cooperation.
