Westpomeranian Voivodeship

Westpomeranian Voivodeship

The Westpomeranian Voivodeship (1,7 Mio. inhabitants) is one of 16 voivodeships in Poland. Main motors for development in the region is maritime economy and tourism in the coastal zone. Prime engines of growth in maritime economy sector are ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście (with primary importance for national economy) and sea shipping, together with science&research facilities with world-class R&D achievements in innovation in seas and oceans. In the Westpomeranian Voivodeship there are also great challenges for urban-rural partnerships in respect of protected areas sharing the space with main cross-border transport corridors and with the Szczecin Metropolitan Area. As project partner, the Westpomeranian Voivodeship, represented by Regional Office for Spatial Planning of Westpomeranian Voivodeship, also elaborates functional and spatial model structures for rural areas surrounding main cities.
